Equity markets around the world were startled by a string of weaker-than-expected U.S. economic data (culminating in Friday’s poor U.S. jobs report) and renewed fears of a wider European financial crisis.
While the early-year reads on the economy were strong, it now appears that an unusually mild winter pulled activity forward. At the same time, safe-haven government bonds of developed countries across the world rallied to record lows. The yield on the 10-year Treasury touched 1.437% this morning, the lowest yield in the history of the United States. For the week, the 10-year yield rallied 0.28% to close at 1.46%. Germany also witnessed a record low yield on its 10-year while the yield on a two-year Swiss bond is -0.38% (i.e., investors are willing to pay 0.38% for the Swiss government to hold their money). One for the Ages: Markets Down More than 6% in May (published 6/1)

    Hello! I really dont have anything to say that others have not said here. But I too appreciate your considerable efforts here. And good luck with your radio show. I will listen to the podcasts and listen in via the Internet if I like the shows. But if they are like this website then I probably will.
