Part 1: Tech’s Next Big Thing?

Part 1: Tech’s Next Big Thing?

Rick Rogers, Rick Rogers Media   The best stories always take a twist. Take Bitcoin. The world’s first digital currency hit the scene as quietly as a quarter landing on thick carpet in 2009. Few besides tech geeks took note – at first — and the virtually worthless virtual money was virtually given away. In one legendary story, 10,000 Bitcoins were paid for two pizzas in … Read entire article »

The VA’s Killer Problem: Painkillers

The VA’s Killer Problem: Painkillers

An early red flag that prescription painkillers were ravaging U.S. veterans came in 2011 when researchers found vets dying of narcotic overdoses at more than twice the national average. That same year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention named painkiller abuse a national epidemic, and the White House launched a campaign to reverse a trend that saw prescription abuse become … Read entire article »

Advice for Veterns Seeking Benefits

Veterans often call or email seeking help with their benefits. Almost invariably their compensation issues are snagged on claims snafus. Like the Korean War veteran from Vista who lost a leg in combat and learned his records declared his amputation not service connected. Look them … Read entire article »

No Internet Sundays: Can you do it?

By Rick Rogers The idea sounded ridiculously easy. In fact, it hardly seemed like a challenge at all: Go one Sunday without the Internet. Years ago I ditched my TV for better ways of spending my time. No problem. Never miss it except during football season, and even then there are workarounds. Why even bother going Internet-less? First I read the average person spends 40 minutes a day on Facebook and then that Americans 18-64 spend more than 3 hours a day on social media. Isn’t that pathetic. Who would voluntarily waste so much time tethered to a machine for such purposes when we’re already yoked to a computer at least 8 hours day five days a week? No wonder many … Read entire article »
